The Buffalo Lighthouse meter only said maximum gusts of 48mph...but I was barely surviving on a 2.9m FULLY downhauled and outhauled. Most of the time I was completely focused on contorting my body so that I could sheet out as far as possible. Long harness lines made it possible to ride sheeted out and relaxed right up against the breakwall with huge waves crashing over. AMAZING experience!!!!!!!!!!!
Then it dropped back to 42mph, and I was able to pop some nice jumps on the inside near the pier. Even attempted and made some jibes. There was no jibing out by the wall in 48mph wind. I didn't even try. I would have lost teeth against my boom with all the chop.
Love this sport! Just an incredible year. Last 20 sessions, since September 21, average sail size 3.7m. That is AMAZING wind!!!!!
