The chronic Lyme disease experts are totally missing the main pillar of disease reversal. They don't even have a clue. Why? Because it's NOT taught in medical school. But I'm going to explain it to you here.
Let's look at 3 experts on chronic Lyme disease:
1.) Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker - Often considered the world's leading expert in chronic Lyme disease, Shoemaker focuses on treating chronic Lyme disease - often termed Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS) or Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) triggered by Lyme - by removing persistent biotoxins and reducing chronic, systemic inflammation. Remember the words "biotoxins" and "inflammation" as we will come back to them later. Shoemaker argues that a subset of the population has a genetic predisposition in the HLA-DR cell surface receptor for the immune system. We will look at why this is wrong.
2.) Dr. Richard Horowitz - Here we have an expert who focuses on what he calls "The Three I's" of infection, immune dysfunction, and inflammation. Horowitz uses biofilm busters like Dapsone to try to kill bacterial infection that are hiding under biofilms. He purports to address immune dysfunction and inflammation. He addresses heavy metals as a contributor to chronic Lyme disease. Remember the words "immune dysfunction" and "inflammation".
3.) Dr. Mark Hyman - Often considered the Father of Functional Medicine, Hyman focuses on the immune system through gut health, removing toxins, and reducing inflammation. Again, remember the words "inflammation" and "immune system".
Let's start by discussing what inflammation REALLY is. Medical schools and the doctors above like to explain inflammation as a protective response to damage or threat that results in a cascade of events. They say that inflammation produces oxidative stress, which is the release of free radicals, to help combat the threat, and that these free radicals can damage DNA, proteins, lipids, and mitochondria. But that's WRONG! That's not what's going on. In order to understand what is really going on you must first understand how mitochondria work.
