IS YOUR VITAMIN D LOW?
It's not what you think. It's NOT because you don't take enough supplements. I'm gonna tell you what your doctor has no clue about.
1.) YOUR SKIN MICROBES: Everybody knows that vitamin D is made in the skin from sunlight and 7-dehydrocholesterol. But your doctor has no clue that that process does not work efficiently unless you have the right bacteria on your skin. STOP USING SOAP and CHLORINATED WATER on your skin. The bacteria create the conditions that optimizes the skin for vitamin D production, but you're killing those bacteria with soap and chlorine. Put a filter on your shower head to remove the chlorine and don't use soap. If you have to absolutely use soap then use something very, very gentle like tallow based soap.
2.) YOUR SKIN MITOCHONDRIA: In order for UV-B light to make vitamin D in the afternoon, when UV-B light is available, you need to prep your skin with morning infrared light from the sun. Your mitochondria don't work without infrared light, and they need time to make the right chemicals a couple hours before you start making vitamin D. So make sure you see the SUNRISE. Your doctor has no clue about this. They might not even be able to spell mitochondria.
3.) COLD PLUNGE: You don't expose your skin to the sun in winter, so how are you supposed to make vitamin D. You make it from cold. When your skin temp reaches 50-55 degrees your mitochondria make lots of UV light that is stronger than the sun. Learn to cold plunge in winter. Again, your doctor has no clue.
4.) TEST THE CORRECT VITAMIN D: Again, your doctor is clueless. They test 25hydroxyvtiaminD (25D) which is the storage form, not the active form. The storage form does no biological work whatsoever. Nothing! And they are measuring it in the blood, which is useless. The amount in the blood does not necessarily represent the amount in storage. You need to test the active form which is 125dihydroxyvitaminD (125D). There are actually close to 100 forms of vitamin D, but if you test the 125D then it gives you some information. 125D will generally be at a steady level year round. It does not vary with the seasons. It varies when you are sick. If you are sick then your 125D will be high. So check it even when you don't feel sick to use as a marker of an unnoticed problem.
