The Importance of Contacting Ken-Ton School Board Members

One of the most important ways to bring about change in our school district is to regularly contact school board members and speak at school board meetings.  “Board members are representatives of the community and stewards of children and public funds,” says Ken-Ton School Superintendent, Dawn Mirand, in a recent Ken-Ton Bee article.  As representatives of the community, school board members represent us.  They are the voice of the people.  They have a responsibility to represent us, and we have a responsibility to keep them well-informed of our concerns.

The Ken-Ton School Board is comprised of five members.  Each member gets an equal 20% vote in matters that are subject to the voting process.  As community members, we have the power to sway the voice of individual board members one way or another.  By meeting with our board members, sending them emails, calling them on the phone, and speaking to them at board meetings, we play a major role in swaying them to see the value of our views.  Convince three of the five board members of your position on an issue and the ensuing vote will yield the results you desire.

Start today.  Attend the next board meeting and speak.  Give our board members a call, and send them an email.  Here is a list of our Ken-Ton Board members with their email addresses:
